BEIJING, May 27 (TMTPOST) — Chinese electric vehicle maker NIO is recruiting manufacturing talents in the United States, hinting its intention to build a manufacturing plant in the country, according to a news report from Yicai.

NIO has commented that the company does not have relevant information for the public.

It is reported that NIO has job openings such as manufacturing plant planner, vehicle body technique specialist, overseas planning and infrastructure specialist and overseas logistics project manager in the United States. The company highlights in the job description of the manufacturing plant planner that job candidates must have supervised two or more manufacturing plant planning projects with at least one project experience in the United States. NIO also requires job candidates to have familiarity with state policy in the United States, design compliance process, American technique planning and planning principles in the United States.

“NIO might have plans to build its factory in the United States. This job position requires the candidates to understand the different state policies in America and participate in the site selection process for the plant,” an industry expert who has been involved in several car plant projects said.

At present, NIO has an autonomous driving research and development center in San Jose, California. It is reported that the company is recruiting planning and infrastructure specialist/senior analyst in San Jose, which requires the candidates to have knowledge of industrial real estate compliance.

Judging from the job description of the job opening, an industry expert believes that NIO’s plant in the United States might adopt the CKD (complete-knocked-down)/SKD (semi-knocked-down) model.
