Nike Run Club Mobile App to Suspend Operation in China Next Month
The announcement said that the Nike Run Club mobile app will suspend operation from July 8 in mainland China due to business adjustments. The app will be providing users with data export service. Garmin’s sports equipment will stop syncing data with the Nike Run Club mobile app.

BEIJING, June 8 (TMTPOST) — Multinational sports apparel brand Nike will suspend the operation of its mobile app Nike Run Club in China on July 8, according to an announcement from the company.

The announcement said that the Nike Run Club mobile app will suspend operation from July 8 in mainland China due to business adjustments. The app will be providing users with data export service. Garmin’s sports equipment will stop syncing data with the Nike Run Club mobile app.

Nike Run Club is a workout app and distance tracker from Nike. It provides services such as Guided Runs, Training Plans, pace tracker, running log and GPS distance tracker. The mobile app also allows users to create and share challenges with friends.

Nike announced on Tuesday that its platforms will start undergoing a digital transformation in July. The transformation is aimed at transforming Nike’s entire digital ecosystem in mainland China, including the Nike Run Club.

Nike’s technology center in Shenzhen was completed in November 2021, which involved an investment of 130 million yuan. The technology center has completed the deployment of human resources, software, hardware and technological resources for the first phase.

It is said that the technology center will fully complete its deployment in three years and hire several hundred of local talents to provide local consumers with customized services.

Nike’s platforms that will be undergoing digital transformation in July include Nike App and membership service, SNKRS App and Nike.com. Nike will also invest more resources in the WeChat ecosystem. On WeChat, Nike has its own mini apps, including a workout mini app named Nike Training Club.
