BEIJING, November 10 (TMTPOST) — China's state-owned aerospace giant Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China Ltd. (COMAC) announced that it has secured 300 additional orders for C919 airplanes from seven aircraft leasing companies at the Zhuhai Airshow, which opened on Tuesday.

The orders for C919 airplanes were placed by China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co. Ltd., ICBC Financial Leasing Co. Ltd., CMB Financial Leasing Co. Ltd., Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co. Ltd., CCB Financial Leasing Co. Ltd., SPDB Financial Leasing Co. Ltd., and Jiangsu Financial Leasing Co. Ltd., according to COMAC.

Prior to the annoucement, COMAC C919 received 815 orders from 28 customers, including confirmed orders and intended orders. Meanwhile, COMAC signed a purchase contract with China Eastern Airlines for five planes in March 2021, the first of which is expected to be delivered in December 2022.

As China's first jetliner developed in accordance with international airworthiness standards, the C919 large passenger aircraft is fitted with 158-168 seats and has a range of 4,075-5,555 kilometers. The project started in 2007 and the first flight was conducted in 2017. In September 2022, COMAC obtained the type certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China, indicating that the C919's design meets airworthiness standards and environmental requirements.

The company said that the orders from the signing event fully showcase the confidence of the leasing company partners in the C919 aircraft and ARJ21 aircraft. China's commercial aircraft has reached the advanced stage of development and industrialization. Except for continuing long-term development with a focus on self-improvement and hard work, it is also necessary for COMAC to rely on the key players in the industry chain like leasing companies to contribute wisdom and strength, encouraging all parties of the industry chain to work in the same direction, and jointly promoting the healthy and steady development of the large aircraft business.
