BEIJING, January 28 (TMTPOST) —— China is encouraging some farmers from impoverished areas to live and work permanently in towns and cities in an effort to follow up with poverty alleviation through relocation, speed up urbanization and facilitate the development of the real estate sector.
This is an important measure to consolidate the achievements made in poverty alleviation, boost the development of poverty-stricken areas and improve the livelihoods of relocated people in China.
The purpose of developing the areas for people relocated from economically underdeveloped regions is to meet their aspirations for a better life. Actions will be taken to consolidate and enlarge the achievements of poverty alleviation and relocation and implement the strategy of new urbanization and rural revitalization, to ensure the stability and gradual prosperity of the relocated people and lay a solid foundation for promoting the high-quality development of poverty alleviation areas to realize modernization with Chinese characteristics.
The integrated construction of resettlement areas and the towns where they reside will be promoted. Projects such as industrial employment, the improvement of infrastructure and public services, community management, and cultural services in urban resettlement areas will be included in the national economic and social development plans, territorial space planning, and related construction plans of the areas to which they are relocated. Priority will be given to supporting and protecting relocated people.
It is advocated to facilitate integrated development of the resettlement areas and industrial parks. The government will carry out co-construction between industrial parks and surrounding resettlement communities to explore effective ways for resettlement communities to participate in the development and construction of industrial parks, work out win-win solutions, and let relocated people enjoy more of the dividends of the development of industrial parks.
There will also be integrated development of urban and rural resettlement areas. Against the backdrop of the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, China will steadily advance rural development and make urban infrastructure and public service facilities gradually accessible to people in the resettlement areas.
