BEIJING, April 28 (TMTPOST) —— Zhang Yong, the Chairman of Alibaba Board of Directors and the company's CEO, annnounced that Alibaba Cloud engineers are experimenting with linking the self-researched chatbot access access Tongyi Qianwen to industrial robots.

The announcement was made on Thursday at the 6th Digital China Summit.

Entering a sentence of human language in the dialog box can remotely command the robot to work.  Previously, robots can complete some fixed tasks set by humans, but can not perform some complex tasks that require "improvisation". But AI big models can reduce the limitations of traditional robots so that humans can command the machine through natural language to complete tasks, according to Alibaba Cloud engineers.

In the manufacturing industry, industrial robots are known as machines with high thresholds. The development and delivery threshold of industrial robots has been high for a long time, and the tasks and functions of robots need to be manually written by engineers and repeatedly debugged to match the specific task requirements of production lines.

The birth of AI's big model opens a new window for industrial robots. According to Alibaba Cloud engineers, big models can play an important role in both robot development and application. In robot development, engineers can automatically generate code instructions through the big model to complete the development and debugging of robot functions, and even create some new functions for the robot, such as enabling the robot to grasp, move and use other basic capabilities to complete more complex tasks. In production, the big model provides the robot with the ability to reason and make decisions when performing tasks. Front-line workers only need to send a text, and the robot can understand their intentions by task reasoning, and automatically translated it into a code that the machine can understand so that the machine can be commanded to perform tasks and the production efficiency can be improved dramatically.

"Manufacturing is an important battlefield for AI big model, and the biggest opportunity in the next 10 years lies in the integration of cloud, AI, and physical world machines. Ordering robots to fetch water is only the first step. There will be intelligent robots that can talk directly with people in the future, which will change the landscape of the entire industry," said Zhang.

Recently, Alibaba Cloud launched a program to give priority to its chatbot partners to provide technology, services, and product support in the field of AI big models, and jointly promote the application of big models in different industries. More than 200,000 enterprise users have applied for access to the AI chatbot test. For the manufacturing sector, AliCloud will further integrate the big model and AliCloud IoT platform capabilities to provide intelligent solutions for enterprises, so that the whole process of manufacturing becomes smarter and more efficient.

Chinese tech heavyweight Alibaba Group Holding Ltd on April 11 unveiled its artificial intelligence-powered large language model — Tongyi Qianwen — which it plans to integrate into all of its applicable businesses, joining the chatbot race to offer a potential rival to ChatGPT. The company confirmed in February this year that it is developing a ChatGPT-style artificial intelligence-powered chatbot, which is currently in internal testing.
