BEIJING, September 25 (TMTPost) -- In the foldable screen market, Honor, a smartphone maker spun off from tech giant Huawei, has launched a new foldable smartphone - Honor V Purse, showing its determination to continue to fight in the cutthroat competition.

The Honor V Purse has a thickness of 8.6mm when closed and 4.3mm when unfolded, with a weight of 214g, setting a new record for thinness in foldable screens. In order to make the foldable product even thinner, Honor has used a butterfly wing hinge and a self-developed silk structure, which has reduced the hinge thickness to 2.98mm and increased the shrinkage strength by 400%.

Meanwhile, the Honor V Purse is powered by Qinghai Lake double battery, with a battery thickness of 2.3mm and a capacity of 4500mAh.

"When we were creating the Honor V Purse, we removed all constraints and allowed the designers and developers to design it in the most challenging way possible." Said Honor CEO Zhao Ming. He noted that mass production of the Honor V Purse is currently facing significant challenges, so Honor has chosen to limit pre-sales. As the production issues are resolved in the future, the overall production efficiency is expected to improve.

In order to ensure the durability of the 8.6mm foldable screen phone, Honor has introduced a "four-layer flexible armor" solution composed of a protective layer, cushioning layer, support layer, and protective layer. Compared to the outward folding screens already on the market, its scratch resistance has been improved by up to 300%, ensuring strong wear resistance for daily use. It has obtained the Swiss SGS five-star level certification for overall drop resistance and the Swiss SGS five-star level certification for screen impact resistance.

In terms of photography, the Honor V Purse is equipped with dual-screen shooting capabilities for both front and rear cameras. It has a 50-megapixel main camera and a rear ultra-wide-angle camera. In the semi-folded state, it forms a tripod, increasing stability for photography. The dual-screen preview function allows the subject being photographed to view the camera screen in real time.

"Until today, it has only been 2 years and 8 months since Honor became independent from the Huawei system. We are still a startup company in the early stages, and there is still a long way to go in terms of future development,” said Zhao.

He noted that it is absolutely impossible for Honor to return to Huawei. When a strong opponent appears, there may be two choices. One choice is to join it, so that the industry will become increasingly weak. Another way is to become its strongest competitor. Huawei's return has brought vitality, competitiveness, and challenges to the industry. The best tribute for Honor is to compete with Huawei using the strongest products and the best state.

According to Zhao, the development of smartphones is closely related to the economic cycle or the demand for consumption upgrades. In the face of the downward trend in the smartphone market, companies need to find ways to make changes from within. How to stimulate consumers' desire to purchase is not a problem of consumers, but a problem of innovation for the manufacturers themselves.

"With 2 years and 8 months of Honor, the '18 Dragon Subduing Palms' may have just struck the third palm. There will be many new thoughts, innovative leading experiences and features, and products in the process of incubation in the future." Zhao said.
