China Telecom Launches AI-Powered Video Generation Model

TMTPOST -- China Telecom's Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (TeleAI) on Tuesday introduced its first AI video generation model based on its "Xingchen" large model, at the China Telecom annual AI ecosystem conference, which is currently underway in Guangzhou.

The groundbreaking model aims to enhance the production of short dramas and films by integrating multimodal capabilities such as semantics, voice, and text-to-image processing, covering the entire video creation process from script writing to video shooting, editing, and voice synthesis.

This AI video generation model, fully developed in-house, is the first of its kind by a Chinese state-owned enterprise. At the conference, TeleAI demonstrated a three-minute AI-generated video, highlighting the model's ability to manage complex actions and multiple scenes, ensuring consistency in character positioning and accurate synchronization of sound and video.

The model was developed as part of a broader strategy to innovate within the short drama and promotional video industries, aiming to drive down production costs while improving efficiency. According to China Telecom’s CTO and TeleAI Director Li Xuelong, the model completes the "Xingchen" series of large models, building a comprehensive AI ecosystem with foundational models, data infrastructure, and computational resources.

TeleAI's video generation model ranks first in the VBench evaluation, a leading benchmarking platform for video generation models. It earned top marks in several categories, including image stability, semantic consistency, and scene relationships, with five of its scores exceeding 99%.

In addition, TeleAI announced partnerships with 19 companies, including Huawei, ZTE, and Inspur, under its AI Developer Industrial Alliance to accelerate AI industry development and empower global developers.

The launch marks a significant step forward in China's AI capabilities, with the model poised to transform video production across industries like entertainment, advertising, and education. As part of its continued AI push, China Telecom also plans to roll out over 80 industry-specific models to improve business processes and provide integrated AI services.
